This is a re-posting of my field notes from my first field season in Antarctica in 2000-2001. Steve Emslie, his undergraduate student Mike Polito (who is now finishing his PhD!), and myself travelled to the Ross Sea on a National Science Foundation-funded grant to investigate the occupation history of Adelie penguins along the southern Victoria Land (Scott) Coast. We flew down in mid-December, 2000 and arrived in Antarctica a few days before Christmas Eve. Below are links to the Update
pages I created while we were in Antarctica during our first field season. These pages
contain digital images that illustrate our experiences while they were
happening. All opinions expressed in the Updates are my responsibility, and
do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Steve or other members of our group.
